Indanan, Sulu — The 100th Infantry Battalion (100IB), led by Lieutenant Colonel Samuel M. Bayongasan, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Indanan under Mayor Albakil “Thong” D. Jikiri, successfully mediated the peaceful settlement of a family dispute in the municipality on September 19, 2025.

The conflict, which began earlier this year between two families from Barangay Sapah Malaum and Barangay Kuppong, was formally resolved after persistent coordination and intervention by the 100IB and the LGU. Both parties agreed to end their differences amicably and pledged to involve their households in the reconciliation process to ensure lasting peace.
Lt. Col. Bayongasan underscored the seriousness of the agreement, reminding both families of their responsibility to uphold the settlement. “Anyone who violates the agreement will be held accountable under the law,” he emphasized, noting that the commitment goes beyond personal reconciliation and serves as a foundation for wider peace in the community.
The successful mediation demonstrates the strong partnership between the military and local government in addressing local disputes and promoting unity. It also highlights the 100IB’s expanded role in peacebuilding and community resilience initiatives, alongside its core mandate of national defense.
The effort stands as a testament to the collective vision of fostering stability in Indanan: Sama-sama tungo sa Kaunlaran at Kapayapaan! Kalasag ng Bayan!
