CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — In a disturbing sign that some drug users appear to have lost fear of the law, police arrested a 21-year-old man who went viral for livestreaming himself allegedly using illegal drugs in Barangay Canitoan on Tuesday afternoon, August 13, 2025.

The suspect, identified as Cyborg Dapar Ministerio, alias “Klo,” was cornered in a buy-bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 7 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) around 1:15 p.m. in Zone 1, Barangay Canitoan.

Recovered from his possession were four heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 0.50 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱3,400. He is now detained at Police Station 7 and will face charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities said the arrest was triggered by the suspect’s own social media activity, as he brazenly went on Facebook Live while allegedly conducting a “pot session.” The public broadcast caught the attention of netizens and law enforcement, allowing police to track and apprehend him.

Police expressed concern that the case reflects a disturbing shift in behavior among drug users, with some no longer hiding their activities despite the risks of arrest.

“This is alarming. It seems some individuals no longer fear the law or the consequences of their actions. Livestreaming drug use shows a level of boldness and disregard for authority that we must address,” one law enforcement source said.

The incident adds to the growing debate on the effectiveness of anti-drug efforts, with critics pointing to the persistence — and now public display — of drug use as a sign that fear-based deterrence may be waning.

Authorities have reiterated their call for community cooperation in reporting illegal drug activities and for social media platforms to be more proactive in taking down content that promotes or depicts criminal acts.
