General Santos City — A security guard surrendered to authorities in Maasim, Sarangani Province after shooting dead his supervisor during a heated argument reportedly triggered by a work-related memo.
The suspect, identified only as alias Ben, 30, a resident of Barangay Camanga, Maasim, is now facing criminal charges for the killing of his supervisor, alias Ruel, 44, of Barangay Bula, General Santos City.
Police reports from Maasim Municipal Police Station disclosed that the shooting incident happened around 10:00 a.m. on August 13 in Sitio Seguil, Barangay Tinoto, Maasim. Both the suspect and the victim were employed by the same private security agency operating in the area.
According to Police Major Edgar Vanzuela, chief of Maasim PNP, the suspect and the victim engaged in a heated altercation over work matters before the guard drew his firearm and shot his supervisor multiple times. Instead of fleeing, the suspect surrendered to a fellow security guard and was later turned over to responding police officers. He is now detained at the Maasim Municipal Police Station while awaiting further legal proceedings.
Investigators confirmed that the root of the altercation stemmed from work-related issues, specifically the issuance of a disciplinary memo to the suspect.
