August 25, 2025 – Mindanao

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned of possible flash floods and landslides as a Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Southern Leyte continues to affect Northern Mindanao and Caraga, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) dampens the Zamboanga Peninsula.

At 3:00 AM today, the LPA was spotted 365 km east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte (10.3°N, 128.2°E). The weather disturbance will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao and Caraga. Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms are expected to affect other parts of the island.

Zamboanga Peninsula

  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Isabela City – Cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the day and night due to the Southwest Monsoon. Winds light to moderate from southwest to northwest with slight to moderate seas. Temperatures: 22°C to 33°C.

Northern Mindanao

  • Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental – Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the LPA. Possible flash floods and landslides in flood-prone areas. Winds light to moderate from southwest to northwest, coastal waters slight to moderate. Temperatures: 20°C to 31°C.

Caraga Region

  • Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands – Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the LPA. Moderate to heavy rains possible at times, raising the risk of flooding and landslides. Winds light to moderate from southwest to northwest. Temperatures: 23°C to 33°C.

Davao Region

  • Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental – Partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with localized rainshowers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. Winds light to moderate from southwest to northwest. Temperatures: 22°C to 33°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN

  • North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani – Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Winds light to moderate from southwest to northwest, slight to moderate seas. Temperatures: 21°C to 31°C.

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)

  • Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi – Generally partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Winds light to moderate from southwest to northwest. Temperatures: 22°C to 31°C.

PAGASA Advisory

PAGASA cautions residents in Northern Mindanao and Caraga, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas, to be on alert for flash floods and landslides as rains may intensify. Fisherfolk and those with small sea vessels are also advised to take precautionary measures as coastal waters will be slight to moderate (0.6 to 1.8 meters).
