GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A joint police operation in Barangay Labangal on August 8, 2025, led to the arrest of a drug suspect and the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at nearly ₱300,000.

Personnel from Police Station 2 and the City Mobile Force Company–Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) of the General Santos City Police Office carried out the raid by virtue of Search Warrant No. 25-146 issued by Judge Dennis A. Velasco of RTC Branch 23.

The suspect, identified by the alias “Hopia,” 52, married, and a habal-habal driver residing in the area, was apprehended during the operation.

Seized from the suspect were a caliber .22 revolver without serial number loaded with six live rounds; a sling bag containing 23 heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 43.87 grams; seven sachets of suspected marijuana weighing about 9 grams; assorted drug paraphernalia; and ₱6,855 in cash.

Authorities are preparing to file charges against “Hopia” for violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The confiscated items were brought to Police Station 2 for proper documentation and disposition.
