TIPO-TIPO, Basilan (July 26, 2025) — A long-standing rido or clan feud in Tipo-Tipo, Basilan was formally resolved through a peace settlement spearheaded by the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), in partnership with local peace stakeholders.

The feuding parties signed an Amicable Settlement Agreement at the Joint Peace and Security Team (JPST) camp in Tipo-Tipo, marking a significant step toward lasting peace and reconciliation in the area. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), local government units, religious leaders, and security forces.

Among the key figures present during the reconciliation were Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member of Parliament Dan S. Asnawie, Al-Barka Mayor Jaydeefar Lajid, Haji Samad Atain of the MILF-Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), and JPST personnel.

MP Asnawie lauded the efforts of all parties involved, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in fostering peace.
Alhamdulillah, many thanks to our good Mayor of Al-Barka, to our active JPST, and to the Ministry of Public Order and Safety—without your support and assistance, this settlement would not have taken place,” he said.

Haji Samad Atain underscored the role of grassroots peacebuilding efforts rooted in regional mechanisms in creating a peaceful and stable Bangsamoro.

The resolution of the conflict aligns with the Bangsamoro Government’s Enhanced 12-Point Priority Agenda, which includes the promotion of peace, justice, and security across the region.

The peaceful settlement is expected to help reduce violence and strengthen social cohesion in Basilan, a province that has seen decades of clan-based conflicts and insurgency-related violence.
