PALIMBANG, Sultan Kudarat — Four residents of Sitio Pusot, Barangay Baluan voluntarily turned over high-powered firearms and explosives to the Philippine Army on August 12, following a community dialogue organized by the 603rd Infantry (Persuader) Brigade.
The turnover was made to the Civil Military Operations Competency Enhancement Training (CMOCET) team after the pulong-pulong aimed at fostering trust and cooperation between the military and the community.
Surrendered items include three Cal.30 carbines, one Cal.45 pistol (SN: 773897), a MK2 hand grenade, a PRB hand grenade, a fabricated 12-gauge shotgun, a fabricated Cal.357 pistol, and assorted ammunition.
The CMOCET team is currently implementing the Mobile Community Support Sustainment Program (MCSSP) in the area to help prevent the resurgence of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) and to promote security through localized peace engagements.
Brigadier General Michael A. Santos, commander of the 603rd Infantry Brigade, lauded the residents’ decision to surrender the weapons and commended the CMOCET team’s efforts in conducting dialogues and information drives.
“The voluntary surrender of these firearms is a strong manifestation of trust and confidence of the people in our security forces. It not only prevents these weapons from being used for illegal activities or spreading terror, but also strengthens our conviction for lasting peace and development in Palimbang and the entire province of Sultan Kudarat,” Santos said.
The surrendered weapons are now under the temporary custody of the 7th Infantry Battalion for proper disposition and safekeeping.
