Nabunturan, Davao de Oro – In a continued crackdown against illegal drugs, police operatives in Davao de Oro arrested two individuals in separate buy-bust operations conducted in the towns of Nabunturan and Compostela.
In Barangay Poblacion, Nabunturan, joint forces from the Nabunturan Municipal Police Station, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and the 1st Davao de Oro Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested a 39-year-old male carpenter during a dawn operation. Confiscated from the suspect were several heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu and a marked ₱500 bill used in the transaction. The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and later brought to the municipal health office for medical examination.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Barangay Ngan, Compostela, authorities arrested another male suspect, identified by the alias “Rex,” a 36-year-old jobless resident of Barangay Poblacion. Recovered from him were sachets of suspected shabu, a marked bill, and a cigarette pack used to conceal the drugs. Like the first suspect, Rex was apprised of his rights in a language he understood and was subjected to a medical check-up.
Both suspects are currently in police custody as authorities prepare for the filing of charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the drug menace through intensified and coordinated anti-drug operations across the province.
