Davao City – A parking altercation between two taxi drivers turned deadly after one of them was fatally stabbed with a gaff (tare) in Ponte Verde, Barangay Communal, on the afternoon of July 2, 2025.

The victim, known by the alias Ram, a resident of Asuncion, Davao del Norte, was declared dead on arrival at the Metro Davao Medical and Research Center Inc. due to multiple stab wounds.

Initial police investigation revealed that around 1:35 p.m., a heated argument broke out between Ram and the suspect, identified as Jay, 36, from Jerome, Agdao, Davao City, over a parking issue involving their taxi units. The confrontation escalated into a fistfight, which ended violently when Jay allegedly pulled out a gaff—a sharp metal blade commonly used in cockfighting—and stabbed Ram several times.

The suspect attempted to flee but was later apprehended. The blood-stained gaff believed to have been used in the attack was recovered from his possession.

Jay is now in police custody and is facing homicide charges. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
