COTABATO CITY — Residents of Rosary Heights 6 were alarmed on Friday afternoon, July 18, 2025, after a loud explosion rocked a residential area along Rosales Street, Barangay Rosary Heights 6.

Initial reports from authorities said the explosion occurred at around 4:50 p.m. inside the home of Nor-Ain Nur Pendaliday, a 49-year-old administrative assistant at the Ministry of Health–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM).

Police Station 2 of the Cotabato City Police Office responded within minutes after receiving a call for assistance. Responding units included the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, the Philippine Marines, and the MBLT-6 and CMFC-CCPO.

According to the PNP EOD investigation, a fragmentation grenade was thrown into Pendaliday’s compound. Recovered at the scene were fragments consistent with explosive components, which are now in the custody of the City Explosive and Canine Unit (CECU-CCPO) for further analysis.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as Pendaliday was at work during the time of the incident. However, the blast caused panic among residents in the area.
