ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities arrested a 27-year-old man during an anti-drug operation in Barangay Sinunuc on the afternoon of July 23, 2025, seizing suspected shabu worth an estimated ₱680,000.

The suspect, known only by his alias “Jonathan,” a resident of Kingdom Village in the same barangay, was apprehended at around 3:52 p.m. in Purok 1 Alas-as through a buy-bust operation conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9 (RDEU9) in coordination with the Sinunuc Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 9.

Confiscated during the operation were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing more than 100 grams of suspected shabu, a plastic bag used as a container, one genuine ₱1,000 bill used as marked money, and 99 counterfeit ₱1,000 bills.

The suspect is now in police custody and is facing charges related to the violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and possible counterfeiting charges.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to the intensified campaign against illegal drugs, which they say continues to destroy the future of the youth and disrupt peace and order in communities.
