Cagayan de Oro City – The 21st City Council temporarily suspended its fourth regular session on Monday, July 28, to make way for a surprise drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region X (PDEA-10).

Vice Mayor Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez ordered the suspension of the session to allow all council members and their staff to participate in the mandatory testing. The initiative is in line with City Ordinance No. 13292-2017, which mandates the creation of a drug-free workplace within City Hall.

All members of the City Council and their respective staff actively joined the activity as a show of support for the city’s anti-drug campaign and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of public service.

PDEA-10 clarified that initial screening results will still undergo confirmatory testing to ensure accuracy and fairness in the process.

This move underscores the local government’s firm commitment to good governance, health, and accountability in public service.
