LABANGAN, Zamboanga del Sur — Authorities intercepted a parcel containing approximately 4.274 kilograms of suspected marijuana during an anti-illegal drug interdiction operation at a delivery hub in Barangay Bulanit, Labangan, on October 31, 2026.

Personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 9 (PDEA-RO9), through its Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Office (ZDSPO), conducted the operation in coordination with the agency’s Special Enforcement Service (SES) K9 Unit.
The interdiction took place at around 12:05 p.m., when authorities discovered four bricks of dried leaves believed to be marijuana concealed inside a parcel undergoing delivery-related processing.
The seized substance had an estimated weight of 4.274 kilograms and a standard market value of ₱512,880, based on the valuation provided by authorities.
The discovery highlights how illegal drug shipments may exploit ordinary parcel delivery and logistics services to transport prohibited substances, making inspection and interdiction efforts at distribution hubs an important part of law enforcement operations.
Following the interception, the suspected marijuana was placed under proper custody for documentation and further investigation.
No arrest was made during the operation. Authorities said the individuals associated with the parcel remain subject to validation, as investigators work to establish its origin, intended recipient, and the persons potentially responsible for its shipment.
The interception forms part of the government’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs, with law enforcement agencies relying on intelligence coordination, inspection procedures, and specialized detection capabilities to identify and prevent the movement of suspected illegal substances.
PDEA also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, emphasizing that community cooperation remains important in efforts to prevent illegal drug distribution.
While the seizure represents a significant interception in terms of quantity and estimated value, the investigation remains necessary to determine who was behind the shipment and whether it was connected to a wider drug distribution network.
