June 6, 2025 – Mindanao — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a regional weather forecast indicating cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms across Mindanao, mainly due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon and the Trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA). The forecast is valid from 5:00 AM today until 5:00 AM tomorrow, June 7.

Zamboanga Peninsula & BARMM: Monsoon Brings Rains

Provinces in the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, will experience cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest to west, with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 2.1 meters). Temperature ranges will be between 23°C and 32°C.

In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), similar weather conditions will prevail across Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, all expecting intermittent rains and thunderstorms. Temperatures in these areas will range from 20°C to 33°C.

Rest of Mindanao: LPA Brings Continued Unsettled Weather

Other provinces in Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Caraga will also experience cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of a Low Pressure Area.

Northern Mindanao:

  • Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental will have temperatures between 22°C and 33°C with moderate winds and manageable sea conditions.

Davao Region:

  • Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental will see similar wet conditions, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 33°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN:

  • Residents in North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani are advised to brace for rainy and stormy weather with temperatures between 21°C and 33°C.

Caraga Region:

  • The provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands will also be under the influence of the LPA, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 34°C.

Advisory for Residents

PAGASA reminds residents in low-lying and mountainous areas to be cautious of possible flash floods and landslides due to heavy and prolonged rainfall. Fisherfolk and small seacraft operators are also advised to remain alert, especially with expected moderate seas.
