Malaybalay City, Bukidnon — June 9, 2025 — In a significant step toward lasting peace and reintegration, former rebels in Bukidnon surrendered high-powered firearms to government authorities, marking another milestone in the implementation of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
The ceremonial turnover was held at Camp Captain Ramon M. Onahon in Malaybalay City, where Provincial Director Police Colonel Jovit Lontac Culaway of the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office led the activity. He was joined by representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bukidnon and the 1st Special Forces Battalion.
The surrendered firearms, which include assorted high-powered weapons, were voluntarily turned in by former rebels who have chosen to abandon the armed struggle and return to the fold of the law. Their decision to reintegrate into mainstream society is seen as a positive outcome of sustained peace-building efforts by the government.
Authorities emphasized that the surrender is not only a sign of trust in government programs but also a symbol of hope for communities affected by decades of insurgency.
The E-CLIP provides a holistic package of benefits including livelihood assistance, skills training, housing, and other support services to former rebels and their families to help them start anew.
Officials reiterated their commitment to supporting former combatants in rebuilding their lives and urged remaining members of insurgent groups to follow suit.
The event concluded with a message of peace and continued partnership among stakeholders in building a safer and more progressive Bukidnon.
