RT LIM, Zamboanga Sibugay – A 64-year-old farmer was arrested by authorities in Barangay Kulambugan in the early hours of June 20, 2025, for illegal possession of a firearm and a fragmentation grenade, following a report from his own daughter.
According to the RT Lim Municipal Police Station, the arrest stemmed from a cellphone call made by the suspect’s daughter, who claimed her father was intoxicated, behaving aggressively, and armed with a firearm inside their residence.
Acting promptly on the report, police personnel rushed to the scene around 2:58 AM. Upon arrival, they found the suspect outside the house and allegedly observed him attempting to hide a firearm in his bag. The police immediately intervened and placed him under arrest without incident.
Recovered during the operation were:
- One (1) Caliber .38 revolver loaded with three (3) live rounds of ammunition
- One (1) fragmentation grenade
The suspect was taken to the RT Lim Municipal Health Office for a medical check-up and is now in police custody.
Authorities are preparing formal charges against him for violations of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Illegal Possession of Explosives under existing Philippine laws.
