May 22, 2025 | Cagayan de Oro City — In a move to strengthen peace, reconciliation, and inclusive development in Mindanao, the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) hosted a press conference and dialogue on Peace, Development, and Governance with Member of Parliament Sultan Abdullah “Bravo” G. Macapaar of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on May 21, 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall of Camp 1Lt Vicente G. Alagar, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
The event gathered key regional officials and peace advocates including PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO10; Bruce A. Colao, CESO V, Regional Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10; Musa Mohamad Sanguila, Director of Pakigdait and former consultant of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process; Abel A. Moya, also a Director of Pakigdait; and members of the media.
In his remarks, PBGEN De Guzman underscored the significance of the forum as a platform for healing and cooperation, highlighting the role of law enforcement in promoting peace and unity.
“Today is a powerful reminder that peace is possible when we come together—not as former rivals, but as partners working for a common goal. What we are witnessing is the transformation of conflict into cooperation, of division into unity—and we in Police Regional Office 10 are proud to be part of that journey,” he said.
Sultan Macapaar, also known as “Bravo,” emphasized that his presence at PRO10 was meant to build bridges through open dialogue and mutual understanding. He called for unity among all communities, regardless of faith.
“Ang ating layunin ay magkaisa – walang Muslim, walang Christian. Ang programa po natin dito, bilang inyong kasamahan at kapatid sa Lanao del Norte, ang gusto po namin ay gamitin natin ang kapayapaan at kaunlaran dito sa ating lalawigan,” he said.
DILG-10 Director Bruce Colao affirmed his agency’s commitment to peacebuilding and inclusive governance, lauding the initiative for fostering dialogue across sectors.
The event was seen as a testament to the growing partnership between security forces, local government units, civil society, and leaders from the Bangsamoro region, all united in the goal of building lasting peace and sustainable development in Northern Mindanao.
PRO10 leadership reiterated their readiness to continue working collaboratively with various stakeholders in bridging divides and creating safer and more inclusive communities.
