ISULAN, SULTAN KUDARAT – Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS) Geoffrey Demorito Angub, 46, assigned to the Bagumbayan Municipal Police Station, was shot dead in Barangay Kalawag II, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat in the early hours of May 27, 2025.
According to authorities, Angub was walking home when he was gunned down around 12:15 a.m. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office (SKPPO) and the Police Regional Office 12 strongly condemned the brutal killing, calling it a direct attack not only on the Philippine National Police (PNP) but also on the peace and security of the community.
“This cowardly act is an attack not only on one of our own but on the peace and order we uphold,” said PRO-12 in a statement. “To the family and loved ones of PEMS Angub, our deepest condolences. His dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
SKPPO Provincial Director PCOL Bernard Lao assured the public that justice will be served. He confirmed that a hot pursuit operation led to the swift arrest of the suspects in Barangay Sulit, Polomolok, South Cotabato.
Isulan PNP chief Lt. Col. Julius Malcontento confirmed that the arrested suspects are a 54-year-old businessman and his 25-year-old son, who also works in their company. Authorities are looking at a personal grudge as the possible motive behind the crime.
The suspects are currently in police custody as criminal charges are being prepared.
Both SKPPO and PRO-12 reaffirmed their commitment to fighting violence and ensuring that those responsible for the crime face the full force of the law.
