KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte (May 18, 2025) — Authorities arrested a 28-year-old woman in an anti-illegal drug operation conducted at dawn in Purok 3, Barangay Kawit Occidental, Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte.
The joint operation, carried out at around 12:40 AM, was led by personnel from Kauswagan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO), and Bacolod MPS, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) under pre-operation number 30002-052025-0266.
Armed with Search Warrant No. 25-0132 issued by Judge Ali Ombra R. Bacaraman of RTC Branch 4, 12th Judicial Region in Iligan City, police raided the suspect’s residence. The search yielded three small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, with an estimated weight of 0.2 grams and a street value of Php 1,500. Authorities also recovered one piece of cigarette foil and three unused aluminum foil strips.
The suspect, a housewife and resident of the area, was immediately taken into custody. She now faces charges for violations of Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The case is being prepared for inquest proceedings.
All confiscated items have been submitted to the Provincial Forensic Unit (PFU) of Lanao del Norte for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
