Davao City, Philippines – May 8, 2025 — A five-month-old infant was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after a landslide struck their home in Sitio Quarry, Mundo Hill, Barangay Marilog, Davao City at around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
According to police investigation, the landslide hit the residence of 64-year-old farmer Mario (surname withheld), who was inside the house with his family when the tragedy occurred. The infant, identified only as “Baby Boy,” was resting in a hammock when the house collapsed due to the landslide.
Nearby residents quickly responded and managed to rescue other members of the family. However, the baby suffered severe injuries and did not survive.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the area as the community remains on alert for further ground movement, especially amid unpredictable weather conditions.
