DON CARLOS, Bukidnon — A former member of the Militia ng Bayan (MB) affiliated with the Guerrilla Front MALAYAG under the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) voluntarily surrendered to authorities on May 24, 2025, at the headquarters of the Bukidnon 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) in Barangay Pinamaloy.

The surrenderee, identified only by his alias “Ka Estoy,” is a 30-year-old laborer from Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. According to authorities, he had long been inactive but decided to surrender to clear his name, citing frequent accusations of involvement in rebel activities despite having distanced himself from the group.

Ka Estoy clarified that he was never involved in armed encounters or harassment in Bukidnon and that his role was limited to procuring supplies for the rebel unit.

His surrender was facilitated through a joint intelligence-driven operation involving personnel from the Bukidnon 2nd PMFC, Malaybalay City Police Station, Bukidnon Provincial Intelligence Unit, PIT RIU 10, and DI-MAPIO TIP RED FURY MAPIO.

Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), lauded the success of the operation and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to peace-building efforts.

“This surrender signifies a victory for peace and reconciliation. We welcome former rebels like Ka Estoy who choose to abandon armed struggle and return to the fold of the law,” said De Guzman. “PRO10 will continue to strengthen community engagements and intelligence operations to encourage more voluntary surrenders and ensure lasting peace in Northern Mindanao.”

The former rebel is currently under the custody and monitoring of the Bukidnon 2nd PMFC for further processing and support.
