CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 2, 2025 – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 10 successfully dismantled a drug den in Barangay Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City, in a coordinated operation with the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Police Station 7 and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Intelligence Unit 10 (RIU 10). The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of approximately six grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of Php 40,800.
The arrested suspects were identified as Alias Longz, 43, the alleged drug den maintainer and a resident of Barangay Canitoan; Alias Nicolie, 20, an employee and also a resident of Barangay Canitoan; and Alias Ronald, 30, a visitor from Barangay Carmen.
This successful operation, the second in a single day by PDEA Region 10, underscores the agency’s relentless efforts to curb illegal drug activities in Northern Mindanao. The involvement of younger individuals in such illegal activities highlights the need for stronger community awareness and parental guidance in preventing drug-related crimes.
PDEA RO-10 Regional Director Atty. Benjamin G. Gaspi emphasized the role of families, educators, and community leaders in preventing drug abuse among the youth. He urged parents and guardians to maintain open communication with their children and instill strong moral values to steer them away from dangerous influences.
The arrested individuals will be charged under Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
