Talisayan City – Volunteers of the Federation of Citizens Crime Watch – Special Task Force (FCCW-STF) on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, underwent a day-long capability training aimed at strengthening community-based crime prevention and promoting a drug-free environment.
Held at the Talisayan National High School covered court, the training was conducted under the supervision of law enforcement authorities. Participants received practical instruction in martial arts, arrest procedures, handcuffing techniques, and basic gun safety, among other essential skills.
A highlight of the event was the oath-taking ceremony, where Crime Watch officers and members pledged their commitment to help maintain peace and order in their communities.
The activity was led by FCCW-STF President and Certified Executive Officer Dr. Mark Gabumpa, together with representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Highway Patrol Group (HPG), and other local security agencies. City Police Director PCol. Fidel Fortaleza was represented by PMAJ Albert Alfaro, who commended the volunteers for their active participation in enhancing public safety.
“We are grateful to these civic-minded individuals who continue to support our collective efforts to build safer and more secure communities,” said Alfaro. He also expressed appreciation for the city government’s continued support of preventive measures and security initiatives.
FCCW-STF, a private organization, has been known for its grassroots mobilization and close collaboration with authorities in crime prevention. The group emphasizes volunteerism and community involvement as key strategies in maintaining order.
Also in attendance were FCCW-STF Provincial OIC Ejay Francisco, FCCW-STF OIC Eva Velasco, Assistant OIC Roel Obordo, PMAJ Mervin Claret, HPG staff, youth members of FCCW-STF, and other representatives from the local security sector.
The event reflects an ongoing effort to empower citizens to take an active role in public safety and contribute to a peaceful, drug-free community.
