Bongao, Tawi-Tawi – The Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Tawi-Tawi, conducted an interactive robotics training session on March 13, 2025. The event aimed to equip students with practical technical skills and introduce them to the world of robotics and programming.
Participants included Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) students from Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College (TRAC) and Mindanao State University-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO). These students, who are currently undergoing On-The-Job Training (OJT) at the Provincial Government Office, engaged in the workshop to enhance their digital literacy and technical competencies.
The training focused on block programming, a beginner-friendly coding method that enables users to design and control robotic systems efficiently. Through hands-on activities, students experimented with simple robotic tasks, reinforcing their problem-solving abilities and understanding of technology’s role in addressing real-world challenges. The session emphasized critical thinking, troubleshooting, and creativity, making the learning process both engaging and educational.
This initiative is part of Project SPARK, a program spearheaded by the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) of DICT. Project SPARK is designed to equip students with essential digital skills, inspire them to pursue careers in technology, and prepare them for the ever-evolving digital landscape.
The Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi continues to support educational programs that foster digital literacy and technical expertise. By investing in such initiatives, the local government aims to prepare students for future opportunities in the ICT industry, ensuring they remain competitive in the fast-growing technological sector.
