SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao del Sur — Authorities have launched an intensified investigation following a brazen armed robbery inside a sari-sari store in Barangay Labu-Labu, Shariff Aguak, on May 4, with the entire incident captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV).
According to initial police reports, two unidentified armed men entered the small retail store and swiftly carried out the hold-up, threatening the store owner at gunpoint. The suspects forcibly took cash earnings and several goods before fleeing the scene.
Footage from the store’s CCTV camera revealed the suspects entering the premises and immediately asserting control over the situation. One of the assailants was seen pointing a firearm at the victim, while the other ransacked the store, grabbing money and merchandise within reach. The robbery unfolded in a matter of minutes, highlighting the calculated and aggressive nature of the attack.
Beyond taking valuables, the suspects reportedly damaged some of the store’s property before making their escape, further aggravating the incident and leaving the victim shaken.
Local police authorities in Shariff Aguak confirmed that a full-scale investigation is ongoing. Investigators are currently analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the suspects and trace their possible escape routes. Coordination with nearby barangays and checkpoints has also been strengthened to prevent the suspects from leaving the area.
“The CCTV footage will play a crucial role in identifying the perpetrators and ensuring their swift arrest,” a police official said, noting that efforts are underway to enhance the video for clearer identification.
The incident has raised renewed concerns over the safety of small business owners in the area, particularly those operating alone or in vulnerable locations. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities that may aid in the investigation.
As of this writing, no arrests have been made. Police assured the public that operations are ongoing to bring the suspects to justice and prevent similar incidents in the future.
