Paglat, Maguindanao del Sur – March 17, 2025 – A loose firearm was voluntarily surrendered to the Paglat Municipal Police Station (MPS) at approximately 1:30 PM on March 17, 2025. The firearm, a homemade D-20 gauge shotgun without a serial number, was turned over by an unnamed individual through Jonathan Mantulino, the Barangay Secretary of Brgy. Salam, Paglat.
The surrender took place in Brgy. Salam, where local authorities immediately took possession of the weapon. The Paglat MPS received the firearm for safekeeping and proper documentation, ensuring adherence to law enforcement protocols. Officer-in-Charge PLT Elmer G. Pascual formally received the firearm, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.
Following standard procedures, the firearm will be forwarded to the Regional Forensic Unit – BAR, located at PC Hill, Cotabato City, for verification and appropriate disposition. This process is part of the broader initiative by local law enforcement to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and promote public safety.
The Paglat MPS continues to urge individuals in possession of loose firearms to surrender them to the nearest police station.
