A resolution will be submitted to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 10 to expedite the installation of a permanent weigh station at the Panguil Bay Bridge. This initiative aims to monitor the weight of vehicles passing through the bridge and prevent damage caused by overloaded trucks.
Authorities have expressed concerns over heavy vehicles exceeding 30 tons that may cross the bridge, potentially compromising its structural integrity. Additionally, they emphasized the need to prohibit vehicles from parking on the bridge, as this could accelerate wear and tear.
These concerns were raised during a joint meeting of the Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and Provincial Solid Waste Management Board (PSWMB) held on February 19, 2025, at Kalimudan Hall.
Officials are urging the public to help safeguard the bridge, recognizing it as a long-awaited infrastructure project that will greatly benefit the region.
