Marantao, Lanao del Sur – Police Colonel Robert S. Daculan, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO), lauded the personnel of Marantao Municipal Police Station (MPS) for their successful anti-drug operation that led to the arrest of a drug suspect in Barangay Matampay.
The law enforcement operation, conducted through a buy-bust operation at around 6:00 AM on March 17, 2025, in Purok 2, Brgy. Matampay, resulted in the apprehension of a resident suspected of engaging in illegal drug activities.
During the operation, authorities confiscated nine small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The seized illegal drugs weighed approximately 3.1 grams, with an estimated street value of Php 21,080. Also recovered from the suspect were the marked buy-bust money and a navy blue coin pouch.
The suspect was immediately informed of his legal rights in a dialect he understood. Following standard procedures, an inventory of the confiscated items was conducted in the presence of a barangay official from Matampay and a representative from the Department of Justice (DOJ). The arrested individual was then taken to the Marantao MPS for proper documentation and processing.
Authorities have confirmed that a case for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being prepared against the suspect.
PCOL Daculan commended the diligence and commitment of Marantao MPS personnel in their ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the province. He reiterated the police force’s dedication to maintaining peace and order and ensuring the safety of the community.
