Malabang, Lanao del Sur – A significant milestone in peacebuilding was achieved on March 9, 2025, with the successful settlement of a long-standing family feud (Rido) between Commander Delta of Task Force Sallam and several families from Balabagan, Lanao del Sur. The reconciliation event took place at the 64th Infantry (Knights) Battalion headquarters in Malabang, Lanao del Sur.



The historic settlement was facilitated through the concerted efforts of local government officials, community leaders, and security forces. Among those who played a crucial role in brokering the peace agreement were Lanao del Sur Governor Datu Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong, Brigadier General Billy O. Dela Rosa, Brigade Commander of the 103rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, and other key officials. Also present were Hon. Jover Ogka Benito, Mayor of Balabagan, and Hon. Raida B. Maglangit, Mayor of Kapatagan, alongside other local government officials, religious leaders, and stakeholders.
Philippine National Police officials, including Police Brigadier General Romeo J. Macapaz, Regional Director of Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), and Police Colonel Robert S. Daculan, Provincial Director of Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO), witnessed the event, further strengthening the commitment to peace and security in the region.
The settlement, which involved families from Barangay Kalilangan and Barangay Lalabuan in Balabagan, marks one of the largest Rido reconciliation efforts in the province. It is expected to put an end to the long-standing conflict that has resulted in loss of lives and instability in the community.
Governor Adiong, together with the 64th Infantry Battalion and other local leaders, expressed optimism that the resolution would lead to lasting peace and unity among the warring factions. The successful reconciliation was also made possible through the mediation efforts of Kapatagan Mayor Raida Maglangit, Vice Mayor Edna Ogka Benito, as well as various Sultanates and Ustadz from the province.
The event underscores the importance of collaboration among government agencies, security forces, and community leaders in fostering peace and stability in Lanao del Sur. Moving forward, stakeholders remain committed to ensuring that similar conflicts are addressed through dialogue and reconciliation rather than violence.
