Maguindanao Del Sur – February 12, 2025 – In a strengthened campaign towards a drug-free community, the Maguindanao Del Sur Police Provincial Office (MDSPPO) successfully apprehended two individuals in separate law enforcement operations within the province.
In the municipality of Datu Paglas, a coordinated anti-illegal drugs operation (buy-bust) was conducted by operatives of Datu Paglas Municipal Police Station (MPS) in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), along with elements of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), 3rd Maneuver Platoon (MP), and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) MDSPPO. The operation, carried out at Barangay Poblacion, led to the arrest of one suspect after selling a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu to an undercover agent.
Authorities recovered an estimated 1.7 grams of shabu, valued at Php 7,800.00, packed in small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets. Also seized from the suspect were a Php 1,000.00 bill (buy-bust money), a brown vest bandolier, a voter’s ID, and a Kawasaki Bajaj110c motorcycle with plate number 871MRZ. Additionally, a caliber .45 firearm with serial number 351286, a magazine loaded with three live rounds of ammunition, was confiscated. The suspect is currently under the custody of Datu Paglas MPS for proper legal proceedings.
Later in the evening, at approximately 8:00 PM, a separate operation was conducted in Pagalungan following intelligence received from an advocacy support group. Operatives of Pagalungan MPS, in coordination with the 4th Platoon, 2nd PMFC, responded to the information and identified a suspicious individual attempting to flee upon seeing the authorities. The officers conducted a ‘stop and frisk’ procedure, which resulted in the recovery of a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing approximately 4 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of Php 27,200.00. Other confiscated items included a passport and a black sling bag. The suspect is currently in the custody of Pagalungan MPS for further legal action.
Both suspects were informed of their constitutional rights in a language they understood. The confiscated evidence was inventoried in the presence of media representatives and barangay officials and will be forwarded to the Regional Forensic Unit (RFU) of the Police Regional Office BARMM for forensic analysis. Charges are now being prepared against the suspects.
In a separate development, at about 12:30 PM, a community leader in Paglat voluntarily surrendered a homemade D-20 gauge single-shot firearm without a serial number and ammunition to Paglat MPS.
PCOL Ryan Bobby C. Paloma, Acting Provincial Director of MDSPPO, praised the community leader for their commendable action and lauded the efforts of Datu Paglas and Pagalungan MPS operatives for their successful operations. “These accomplishments underscore the relentless commitment of MDSPPO and its law enforcement partners in ensuring that Maguindanao Del Sur remains a safe and drug-free province,” he stated.
