Cotabato City – A man was arrested by personnel from Police Station 2 and the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) after being caught in possession of a firearm early this morning at around 1:00 AM along Mañara Street, Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City.
According to Station 2 Commander PCapt. Teofisto Ferrer Jr., the suspect was identified as Michael Diocolano Sumanday, 35, a resident of Ladap, Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that they received a call from a concerned citizen regarding an alleged theft incident near the People’s Palace in the said barangay. Responding immediately, authorities arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect, who was carrying an Uzi .30 caliber firearm without a serial number, one magazine, and six rounds of ammunition.
In addition to the confiscated firearm and ammunition, the police also recovered a stolen cellphone from the suspect, which belonged to the victim of the theft.
Authorities suspect that Sumanday was under the influence of illegal drugs at the time of the incident. He will undergo drug testing as part of the investigation.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to face charges related to illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as theft. Further legal proceedings are underway.
