Camp Hon. Vicente L. Pimentel Sr., Tandag City – In a continued effort to combat illegal drug activities, law enforcement authorities successfully apprehended a high-value individual (HVI) involved in drug distribution during a buy-bust operation on February 5, 2025.
Personnel from the Surigao del Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (SDS PDEU), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Carrascal Municipal Police Station (MPS), conducted the operation at approximately 5:50 PM in Purok 1, Barangay Bay-bay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.
The suspect, identified as alias “Amor,” a 33-year-old female and a known drug surrenderer, was arrested at the scene. She is a resident of Purok Moonglow, Barangay Bag-ong Lungsod, Tandag City, and had been watchlisted for illegal drug activities.
Recovered during the operation were ten (10) transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, with an estimated total weight of 110 grams. Authorities estimated the confiscated drugs to have a street value of PHP 748,000. Additionally, law enforcement recovered one (1) PHP 1,000 bill, marked as buy-bust money, along with various drug paraphernalia.
The on-site body search, inventory, and markings of the confiscated items were conducted in the presence of representatives from the media, the Barangay Kagawad of Barangay Bay-bay, Carrascal, and the Department of Justice (DOJ). The suspect was informed of her constitutional rights under the Miranda Warning and the Anti-Torture Act. She is currently in the custody of the Carrascal Municipal Police Station, where further legal proceedings are underway.
Provincial Director PCOL Harry B. Domingo lauded the successful operation, reaffirming the commitment of law enforcement to eradicating illegal drugs in Surigao del Sur.
“SDSPPO will remain steadfast in the fight against illegal drugs. This successful anti-drug operation is a testament to our commitment to a safer, drug-free community. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Together, we can win this battle,” Domingo stated.
Authorities continue to encourage the public to support the government’s campaign against criminality to achieve a secure and peaceful Surigao del Sur.
