In a significant step toward sustaining peace in the province of Sulu, Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino P. Delos Santos, Commander of the 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade, met with Mr. Al-Shamier H. Aminulla, head of the Ministry of Public Order and Safety-Sulu (MPOS-Sulu). The meeting, held at the brigade’s headquarters in Barangay Tandu-Bato, Luuk, focused on collaborative efforts to assist former Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members in reintegrating into civilian life.
Brig. Gen. Delos Santos emphasized the crucial role of a whole-nation approach in achieving lasting peace. He expressed gratitude to MPOS-Sulu for their steadfast support, highlighting the importance of their partnership in developing sustainable aid programs. These initiatives are designed to provide livelihood assistance to former ASG members, helping them transition into peaceful and productive lives within their communities.
The meeting also underscored the importance of strengthening inter-agency coordination to ensure the effective implementation of reintegration programs. Brig. Gen. Delos Santos reaffirmed the military’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with local government units and civil society organizations to maintain stability in Sulu.
Attending the meeting were key officials from the brigade, including Col. Alex H. Gagula, Deputy Brigade Commander, Col. Wilfredo Borgonia, Executive Officer, and Lt. Julibert Pelong, Acting Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Officer. Their collective participation highlighted the military’s dedication to fostering peace and security through strategic collaboration.
