Isabela City, Basilan – In a bid to promote sustainable and eco-friendly farming, the Earth Soul Agri Techno Farm Institute, Inc., in collaboration with the City Government of Isabela, has launched an Organic Agriculture Production Training program for farmers and small landholders in Barangay Lumbang and surrounding areas.
The initiative, supported by the Gender and Development (GAD) program under the management of City Information Officer and concurrent GAD Focal Mendry-Ann Lim, aligns with Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman’s commitment to advancing local agriculture, as pledged during the 2023 Agriculture Summit.
The 11-day training, running from February 17 to 28, is spearheaded by the City Agriculture Office (CAgO) in partnership with the GAD Unit. It aims to equip local farmers with sustainable farming techniques that enhance productivity while ensuring food security and environmental preservation. The program also emphasizes gender-inclusive and resilient agricultural practices, reinforcing the city’s vision for equitable and progressive growth in the farming sector.
Present at the launch were key figures in the city’s agricultural development, including City Information Officer and GAD Focal Mendry-Ann Lim, Agricultural Technologist Jonathan Pedillon, and Agriculture and Biosystems Engineer Nur Tasneem Sali from CAgO. Their participation underscored the city’s commitment to supporting farmers through education and innovation in organic agriculture.
This training initiative not only strengthens Isabela City’s agricultural sector but also contributes to a healthier and more sustainable food system for local communities.
