Brgy. Mapurok, Alamada, Cotabato – In a successful joint law enforcement operation, authorities apprehended a suspect and confiscated various illegal items, including firearms, ammunition, a rifle grenade, and suspected illegal drugs. The operation took place in Brgy. Mapurok, Alamada, Cotabato, on February 8, 2025, at approximately 6:45 AM.
The operation was carried out by personnel from the Alamada Municipal Police Station, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of Cotabato Police Provincial Office, the 34th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, and the Regional Intelligence Division 12 Tracker Team Echo. The team executed a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 28, Midsayap, Cotabato, on February 4, 2025.
Authorities identified the arrested suspect as alias “Isma,” a 37-year-old married farmer residing in Purok 5, Brgy. Mapurok, Alamada.
During the search, law enforcement officers confiscated:
- One caliber .45 pistol (EDGE)
- One lower receiver of a caliber .45 pistol
- Six live rounds of caliber .45 ammunition
- One steel magazine for a caliber .45 pistol
- One rifle grenade with a serial number
- One glass tooter
- One heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu
The confiscated items were properly marked and inventoried on-site in the presence of a media representative and the Barangay Chairman of Brgy. Mapurok.
Following the operation, the suspect and the seized evidence were brought to Alamada Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges. This successful operation is part of the intensified efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and drugs in the region.
Police Brigadier General Arnold P. Ardiente, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 12, commended the operating units for their dedication and commitment to maintaining peace and order.
“This operation signifies our efforts to rid our communities of illegal firearms and drugs, especially during this election period. We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and order in our jurisdiction. We call on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” PBGEN Ardiente stated.
