Monkayo, Davao de Oro – On the evening of January 14, 2025, the Mt. Diwata Special Sub-Police Station swiftly responded to a report concerning suspected explosive components turned over by a concerned citizen. The incident, reported by Barangay Tanod Francisco T. Cadisin, unfolded at the Barangay Hall of Mt. Diwata.
The package, handed over by the citizen, contained materials suspected to be explosive in nature. Personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), led by PMSG Randy S. Cavite and under the supervision of PLTCOL Michael Jan M. Peria, were immediately dispatched to secure the items. Upon retrieval, the PNP confirmed that the package included a transparent cellophane containing suspected ammonium nitrate fuel oil (ANFO), a 1/2-meter detonating cord with a blasting cap, and another 1/2-meter detonating cord without a blasting cap.
The explosive components were safely transported to the Monkayo Police Station for proper disposition, ensuring the safety of the community. Authorities have initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the materials and identify any potential threats posed by their presence in the area.
The PNP has reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety and urged residents to remain vigilant. They encourage the public to report any suspicious items or activities to local authorities to prevent potential security threats.
