The individual faces charges for grave threats, violation of Republic Act 10591, and breach of the Election Gun Ban.

The incident unfolded at around 1:30 PM during a routine mobile patrol conducted by Piagapo MPS personnel. Officers responded to a distress call from a woman who was shouting for help. She pointed to a man armed with a gun, reportedly her son, who was chasing her and threatening to kill her.

Upon seeing the approaching law enforcement officers, the suspect attempted to flee. A prolonged foot chase ensued, culminating in the suspect’s arrest. Recovered from his possession was one (1) homemade 12-gauge shotgun without a serial number, loaded with an inserted magazine containing two (2) live rounds of ammunition.

The suspect, a resident of Barangay Sapingit, was informed of his arrest and his constitutional rights in the Maranao dialect, ensuring clear communication. He was then transported to Piagapo MPS for further investigation, documentation, and the filing of appropriate criminal charges.

PCOL Daculan praised the vigilance and prompt response of the Piagapo police, highlighting the importance of proactive patrols in maintaining public safety. He emphasized that the incident serves as a reminder of the critical role law enforcement plays during the election period to ensure compliance with the Election Gun Ban and prevent violence.
