Camiguin — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Provincial Science and Technology Office – Camiguin has officially turned over a fund amounting to Php 435,004.68 to the Provincial Government of Camiguin for the implementation of the Zampen Native Chicken Technology project. This initiative aims to strengthen the Camiguin Multiplier Farm, enhance agricultural productivity, ensure food security, and assist those affected by African Swine Fever (ASF).

The project is expected to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for local farmers while promoting the conservation and propagation of native chicken breeds. By supporting this initiative, the provincial government hopes to diversify the livestock industry and reduce dependency on external poultry sources.

In addition to the agricultural project, Camiguin Governor XJ Romualdo expressed strong support for another DOST-presented initiative—the Filipino-Invented Solid Waste Management Facility. This facility aims to enhance waste disposal systems in the province while promoting environmental sustainability.

The Provincial Government of Camiguin remains committed to supporting innovative and science-based solutions that contribute to agricultural and environmental development. These projects are anticipated to bring long-term benefits to the local economy and improve the livelihoods of residents across the province.
