Mabini, Davao de Oro – Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office, through the Mabini Municipal Police Station (MPS), successfully recovered four illegally cut Gemelina logs on January 13, 2025. The operation took place in Sitio Mill Site, Barangay Libudon.
The logs, abandoned by two unidentified individuals, were discovered beside a barangay road after the suspects fled upon noticing the approaching police. Measuring approximately 35 board feet, the logs have an estimated market value of PHP 2,240.
The recovered logs are now under police custody and will be turned over to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) for proper disposal, in accordance with environmental regulations.
This operation highlights the commitment of the Mabini MPS and the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office to combat illegal logging and safeguard the region’s natural resources. Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal logging to aid in the preservation of the environment.
