The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has exposed a false message circulating online, alleging that newly assigned Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel in Davao City were involved in planting illegal drugs during a checkpoint. The DCPO categorically denies these claims and has provided clarity on the matter.
In an official statement, the DCPO emphasized that no new PNP officers have been assigned to Davao City at this time. Furthermore, the alleged incident’s details are baseless, with no factual evidence supporting the existence of a “Stargate” in Davao City or any specific location where drugs were purportedly disposed of.
The fake message has been identified as a recycled piece of misinformation initially circulated several years ago. The DCPO is actively investigating the origins of this fake news and working to identify the individuals responsible for its spread.
Acting City Director PCOL Hansel M. Marantan has issued a strong reminder to the public about the dangers of fake news, urging citizens to exercise caution and responsibility when sharing information on social media. “Fake news undermines the peace and order of our community and misleads the public. We must remain vigilant against such malicious content,” Marantan stated.
The DCPO suspects that the false message is part of a coordinated text propaganda campaign designed to disrupt the city’s peace and order. Despite these attempts, the DCPO reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding the law with fairness and integrity.
“Our mission and vision to serve and protect the community with no malice will continue to guide us,” the statement concluded.
The public is encouraged to verify information from official sources and report any suspicious online content to the authorities. The DCPO continues to stand as a pillar of security and trust in Davao City, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
