Mati City, Davao Oriental – A joint law enforcement operation conducted on December 6, 2024, in Purok Durian, Barangay Mayo, resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a significant cache of firearms, ammunition, and related paraphernalia.

Acting on three search warrants, authorities targeted three individuals identified by their aliases “Kimba,” “Junma,” and “Jaja.” The operation, led by the 2nd Davao Oriental Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd DOPMFC) with support from the Mati City Police Station, Davao Oriental Maritime Police Station, and Provincial Intelligence Team – Davao Oriental Regional Intelligence Unit 11 (PIT-DOR RIU 11), successfully apprehended alias “Kimba” and alias “Junma.” No items were recovered from the possession of alias “Jaja.”

Seized Items

Recovered from alias “Kimba” were:

  • Firearms:
    • One Elisco 5.56 caliber M16A1 (tampered serial number 111074)
    • Two Shotgun Gladiators
    • One Glock pistol Gen 5
  • Ammunition and Accessories:
    • 80 rounds of 5.56 caliber live ammunition
    • 26 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun live ammunition
    • 178 rounds of 9mm live ammunition
    • 10 steel long magazines (5.56 caliber)
    • Two plastic magazines
    • One black bandolier
    • One drum of empty magazine plastic (5.56mm)

From alias “Junma,” authorities recovered:

  • Firearms:
    • One Metrillo caliber .40
    • One Beretta caliber .40
    • One Tauros 5.56 semi-automatic rifle with Vector scope
  • Ammunition and Accessories:
    • 85 rounds of caliber .40 live ammunition
    • 241 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition
    • Nine plastic long black magazines
    • Three steel short magazines
    • Four black steel magazines
    • One green chest rig (bandolier) with a ballistic plate level 3A

The seized items, along with the suspects, are now in the custody of the Mati City Police Station. Charges for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) are being prepared against the arrested individuals.

PBGEN Leon Victor Z. Rosete, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 11, lauded the dedication and coordination of the involved units, emphasizing the role of local barangay executives in the operation’s success.

“This operation underscores our commitment to curbing the proliferation of illegal firearms and ammunition to ensure the safety and security of the public,” PBGEN Rosete stated.

The Police Regional Office 11 reiterated its steadfast resolve to uphold the law and maintain public safety through continued operations against illegal weapons and criminal activities.
