Zamboanga City — Mayor John Dalipe has praised the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), led by City Police Director PCol. Kimberly Molitas, for their dedication and swift action in combating crime. This comes after the recent arrest of three gunmen involved in separate shooting incidents across the city.
On Monday, December 16, the ZCPO presented to Mayor Dalipe and the media two of the suspects: Hussin Sapie and Jayson de Leon, who were linked to recent shooting incidents in Calarian and Curuan. The third suspect, Arnold Fernandez, was identified as being involved in the February 11 shooting incident at Phase 4, Ayala.
As a token of appreciation for their exemplary work, Mayor Dalipe awarded ₱100,000 each to Police Station (PS) 2, led by PCapt. Jova Agustin; PS 8, under PMaj. Jovanie Julian; and the 1st ZC Mobile Force Company, headed by PLtCol. Christopher Mendoza.
“The safety and security of Zamboanga City will always remain our top priority,” said Mayor Dalipe as he reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the police force.
In response, PCol. Molitas expressed her gratitude for the mayor’s steadfast backing and vowed to sustain the police’s efforts. “We will not stop until we find the final shooter responsible for all of these crimes in the city,” Molitas stated. She also highlighted that the financial incentive would enable the stations to sustain their operations and further enhance their effectiveness.
The event also included the awarding ceremony for the winners of the 1st Shooting Challenge 2024, held at the ZAPSA Firing Range in Lumbangan from December 12 to 14. The competition, organized by ZCPO, showcased the shooting skills of police personnel while fostering camaraderie and discipline.
Mayor Dalipe’s recognition of the police force underscores the city government’s commitment to ensuring peace and order in Zamboanga City. With ongoing efforts to apprehend remaining suspects and maintain law enforcement excellence, the city continues to strengthen its resolve against criminality.
