Two Arrested in Separate Incidents in Monkayo, Davao de Oro

Authorities in Monkayo, Davao de Oro successfully apprehended two individuals in separate operations on November 10, marking a significant day for local law enforcement.

In the first incident, a 24-year-old miner, known by the alias “Eric,” was arrested in Purok 3, Barangay Babag. The Monkayo Municipal Police Station, led by PLTCOL Michael Jan M. Peria, ACOP, along with the 3rd Mobile Force Platoon, conducted the operation to serve an arrest warrant for violating the Anti-Cattle Rustling Law of 1974 (PD 533). The suspect, a resident of Barangay Baylo, Monkayo, is currently held at the Monkayo Municipal Police Station. Authorities have set bail at Php 108,000 for his temporary release.

In a separate case on the same day, a 50-year-old male was taken into custody at around 8:00 PM in Purok 2, Barangay Babag, following a report of a violent intrusion. The suspect allegedly entered a residence uninvited, disrupting a family birthday celebration and brandishing an unlicensed .45-caliber firearm. The victim managed to disarm the suspect, and an off-duty police officer who was nearby quickly responded and detained him. Authorities confirmed that the firearm was unlicensed, and charges are now being prepared against the suspect.

Both arrests underscore the continued commitment of local law enforcement in ensuring community safety and upholding the rule of law in Monkayo.
