Marantao, Lanao del Sur — Police in Marantao successfully conducted a buy-bust operation on November 11, 2024, which led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of involvement in illegal drug activities. The operation, which took place around 11:00 p.m. in Barangay Camalig Bandara Ingud, was part of an intensified anti-drug campaign in Lanao del Sur.
Provincial Director Police Colonel Robert S. Daculan commended the Marantao Municipal Police Station (MPS) for the effective execution of the operation. “This operation reflects our commitment to combat illegal drugs in the province,” Daculan stated.
The suspects, known by their aliases “Alfonso” and “Mamao,” are residents of Barangay Cawayan Kalaw, Marantao, Lanao del Sur. During the operation, authorities seized several items, including:
- Nine heat-sealed transparent sachets containing a white crystalline substance, believed to be shabu, weighing approximately 20 grams, valued at Php 136,000.
- A bundle of boodle money, with a genuine one-thousand-peso bill marked with serial number B811950, used as buy-bust money.
- Two improvised tooters.
- A Yamaha NMAX motorcycle in gray/black, with plate number 463PZU.
- Three identification cards.
- Two belt bags in olive green and red.
Following their arrest, the suspects were informed of their rights in a language they understood. The inventory of confiscated items was conducted in the presence of local officials, including the Barangay Chairman and representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The suspects and all confiscated items were taken to Marantao MPS for documentation and further disposition. The police have reinforced their commitment to upholding law and order and combating illegal drugs within the community.
