In a series of successful operations, the Kitcharao Municipal Police Station intensified its campaign against illegal activities, resulting in the arrest of multiple individuals and the confiscation of illegal drugs.
On November 16, 2024, police operatives conducted a buy-bust operation in Purok-5, Brgy. Crossing, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte. The operation led to the arrest of alias “Jun,” identified as a Street-Level Individual (SLI), for possession of illegal drugs locally known as “Shabu.” Alias “Elmer,” a 40-year-old resident of Purok 5, Brgy. Bobon, Butuan City, who worked as a peso Wi-Fi installer, was also apprehended during the operation.
Authorities confirmed that alias Elmer is now in detention and awaiting prosecution for violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-ADN) and witnessed by representatives from the Department of Justice, the Barangay Council, and the media.
PCOL April Mark C. Young, Acting Provincial Director of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office, emphasized their commitment to eliminating illegal drugs in the province. “The Agusan del Norte police, together with anti-drug agencies and the community, will intensify efforts to put an end to illegal drug activities in the area,” PCOL Young stated.
In a separate operation on November 18, 2024, the same police unit arrested two wanted persons in Purok-6, Brgy. Songkoy, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte. Alias “Recardo,” a 40-year-old jobless resident of Purok-3, Brgy. Songkoy, was arrested based on a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Jabonga-Kitcharao. Recardo faces charges of Estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) under Criminal Case No. 4011, with no bail recommended.
Similarly, alias “Jemuel” was apprehended for Attempted Homicide under Article 248 of the RPC, as per Criminal Case No. 4042. A bail of PHP 36,000 was recommended for his release.
“The successful arrest of these wanted persons is a testament to the skill and dedication of our operatives in fulfilling their sworn duties,” PCOL Young said. “We will continue to work proactively to prevent crime and ensure the safety and well-being of the Agusanons.”
The recent operations highlight the relentless efforts of the Kitcharao police and the Agusan del Norte Provincial Police Office to combat crime and illegal activities, ensuring peace and security in the province.
