Police Laud Successful Anti-Drug Operation in Marawi City

Marawi City, Lanao del Sur — In a significant achievement in the fight against illegal drugs, a joint law enforcement operation conducted in Barangay Panggao Saduc on November 15, 2024, led to the arrest of two suspected drug personalities and the seizure of approximately 51 grams of shabu valued at Php 346,800.

The operation, carried out at around 12:30 PM, was a coordinated effort involving multiple units: the Marawi City Police Station (MCPS), City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LDSPPO), 1403rd and 1402nd Regional Mobile Force Companies (RMFC), Provincial Special Operations Group (PSOG), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of Lanao del Sur.

The suspects, identified as alias “Moa,” a resident of Barangay Panggao Saduc, and alias “Arif,” a resident of Barangay Samporna Salamatollah, Taraka, Lanao del Sur, were apprehended after a buy-bust operation.

Items Recovered

Authorities recovered several pieces of evidence from the suspects, including:

  • One knot-tied transparent plastic sachet containing an estimated 50 grams of suspected shabu, valued at Php 340,000.
  • One heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing 1 gram of suspected shabu, valued at Php 6,800.
  • One genuine Php 1,000 bill placed atop 59 pieces of photocopied Php 1,000 bills, used as buy-bust money.
  • Identification cards (PhilHealth and PHLPost Postal ID), a keychain with a remote and key, and a black sling bag.

Commendation for Law Enforcers

Police Colonel Robert S. Daculan, Provincial Director of the LDSPPO, commended the joint operating units for their successful execution of the operation. “This achievement underscores our commitment to eradicating the illegal drug trade in Lanao del Sur. The coordinated efforts of our law enforcement units have once again proven effective in maintaining peace and order in the province,” he stated.

The arrested suspects and recovered items were brought to the Marawi City Police Station for documentation and preparation of charges. The suspects are now facing legal actions for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).

The police continue to urge the public to support their anti-drug campaign by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.
