Ecstasy Tablets Worth PHP 120K Seized at Beach Resort in Siargao; Suspect Still at Large

Sta. Monica, Siargao Island – Authorities in Siargao Island recently confiscated PHP 120,700 worth of ecstasy tablets at a popular beach resort in Sta. Monica. The discovery took place on November 4, when the Barangay Captain of Barangay Mabuhay handed over a bag containing the illicit drugs to the Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station.

According to a report from the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO), the bag, a sling-type, was found in a cottage at Barangay Alegria Beach Resort. It had reportedly been left behind by a local tourist. Upon inspection, police found seventy-one tablets of ecstasy, a smart watch valued at PHP 7,000, various personal IDs, and a small amount of cash. Identifying the suspect was made possible by IDs found within the bag, though the individual remains at large.

PCOL Nilo T. Texon, the Officer-in-Charge of SDNPPO, expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the Barangay Captain and underscored the importance of collaboration in maintaining community safety. “Our commitment to stopping illegal activities, especially the trade of illegal drugs in the province, reflects our goal to protect Surigaonons by eradicating those who bring harm to the community. We will not cease tracking these individuals and will ensure they are held accountable for their actions,” said OIC PCOL Texon.

The recovered items, including the ecstasy tablets, are now in the custody of the Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station. Local authorities are actively pursuing the case, and a regular case filing process is underway as the search for the suspect continues.
