GENERAL LUNA, Surigao del Norte — More than ₱56,000 worth of suspected Ecstasy tablets and capsules were confiscated from a female suspect during a routine inspection at a popular beach club in Siargao Island early morning on May 23, 2026, police authorities reported.

According to the Philippine National Police, personnel of the General Luna Municipal Police Station, led by Police Captain Ariel E. Esperon, together with members of the 1st Surigao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Diomedes B. Cuadra Jr., were conducting police visibility and anti-criminality operations at Siargao Beach Club in Barangay 3, Poblacion, General Luna when the incident unfolded.

Authorities said the arrest stemmed from a routine frisking and inspection procedure being conducted at the entrance gate of the establishment. A lady security guard assigned at the club reportedly discovered suspected illegal drugs in the possession of the female guest before she could enter the premises.

The suspect was immediately turned over to nearby police personnel who were conducting mobile and beat patrol operations in the area.

Recovered from the suspect were 15 pieces of assorted-colored suspected Ecstasy tablets and 18 white suspected Ecstasy capsules with a combined estimated street value of ₱56,100.

Police said the suspect was informed of her constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine and the Anti-Torture Law following her arrest.

Authorities also conducted proper inventory, marking, and documentation of the seized items in the presence of required witnesses in accordance with existing anti-drug laws and standard operating procedures.

The suspect and the confiscated evidence are now under the custody of the General Luna Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and the filing of criminal charges through inquest proceedings.

The successful confiscation highlighted the intensified anti-illegal drug campaign being implemented by local police units in Siargao, particularly in ensuring the safety of tourists, residents, and nightlife establishments in the island municipality, which remains one of the country’s top tourist destinations.

Police authorities likewise commended the alertness and vigilance of the lady security guard whose routine inspection led to the discovery of the suspected illegal drugs before they could enter the crowded beach club.
