6th Child Development Workers Provincial Congress Celebrates Dedication of Davao Oriental Child Development Workers

Davao Oriental, Philippines — November 12, 2024

The Provincial Capitol Covered Court was filled with joy and excitement as 455 Child Development Workers (CDWs) from all 183 barangays of Davao Oriental gathered for the 6th Child Development Workers Provincial Congress. Organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), led by Department Head Juvy Bonita and Provincial Early Child Care Development (ECCD) Focal Marilou Francisquete, the event celebrated the contributions of CDWs in shaping young lives across the province.

Governor Niño Uy expressed his gratitude and admiration for the CDWs’ dedication to their work, highlighting the significance of their role in child development. Each CDW received a certificate of appreciation and a cash incentive of PHP 5,000, while municipal ECCD focal persons were awarded PHP 3,000 as performance incentives. Retiring CDWs were also honored with PHP 15,000 each. Additional prizes and incentives were provided to all attendees as a token of appreciation for their commitment to service.

The event included lively performances where daycare workers showcased their talents in singing and dancing, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and pride in their vital role. Governor Uy commended the CDWs for their unwavering loyalty and dedication to instilling values and early education in the province’s children. He acknowledged their essential role as “heroes,” contributing to nurturing the potential of Davao Oriental’s youth.

“Your work builds a strong foundation, not just in education but in the overall well-being and emotional growth of our children. Your efforts ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow and become responsible leaders in the future,” said Gov. Uy, who has been involved in social services since his tenure as a city councilor and vice governor.

Gov. Uy encouraged CDWs to continue their noble mission, underscoring how their work lays a foundation of hope for future generations.
