Camp Alagar, Cagayan de Oro City – The Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) reported a significant drop in focus crime incidents across Region 10, with an overall decrease of 29.63% between September 26 and October 26, 2024, as compared to the previous month. This data reflects substantial progress in addressing key public safety issues in the region.
The focus crimes, a priority for law enforcement, include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and motorcycle and motor vehicle carnapping. According to PRO10’s report, notable reductions were observed in several categories: theft cases dropped by 28.56%, murder incidents by 21.74%, and physical injuries by 47.37%. Robbery cases saw an impressive 50% decline, while rape cases decreased by 5.56%. Motor vehicle carnapping recorded no incidents during this period, in contrast to one case last month, and motorcycle carnapping decreased by 55.56%. Homicide, however, remained stable with seven cases reported in both periods.
PRO10 Regional Director, PBGEN De Guzman, attributed these positive results to the dedication of police personnel and the active collaboration with local government units, community stakeholders, and the public. “Our reduction in crime rates is a clear indicator that our proactive and intelligence-driven strategies are making a tangible impact,” he stated, highlighting the importance of a united approach to law enforcement.
In his remarks, PBGEN De Guzman emphasized the PRO10’s ongoing commitment to upholding justice, improving public safety, and protecting community rights. “Our priority is not just to reduce crime rates but to build public trust and foster an environment where every citizen feels safe and secure. As we move forward, PRO10 is committed to maintaining this momentum and working toward an even safer community for all,” he said.
The PRO10 has encouraged the public to remain vigilant and cooperative with law enforcement efforts as the office continues its commitment to making Region 10 a safer place for everyone.
